New Technology Scares Us All
February 7, 2008 1:07 am technology fearsI still remember the first time I called a friend only to be greeted by an answer machine. I was appalled. How dare he think that I'm would leave my personal message on a machine. Well! I hung up.
It seems very silly now, but it was definitely outside my comfort zone because it was new and scary.
I can empathize with my mother, then, who shortly after that fought the idea of getting a touch tone phone. She loved her dial and didn't want to part with it. Time came when it was no longer an option.
When television came on the market, it was predicted that it would mean the end of radio. When personal computers emerged, the doomsayers said it would mean the end of reading books and writing.
None of these predictions came true. The radio found a new voice and way to market. Book companies and distributors got on a new page (sorry) in order to reach their customers.
The advent of iPods, the iPhone, MacAir and recently Polaroid’s new digital mobile photo printer are proof that technological developments are not going to slow down waiting for laggards to jump on board.
Does new technology scare you? Watch the video below and you’ll see that you’re not alone.
