Choose Green as a Key Color in Your Palette
February 5, 2008 Green living, Green movement No CommentsThe green movement is made up of people and companies who embrace environmentalism, grassroots democrary, social justice, and nonviolence, including concern for the rights of indigenous peoples. Some folks have hesitated to get involved in this movement until now because the cost of making better environmental choices seemed expensive. A growing number of people are jumping on board the Green Movement thanks to increased attention in the news and more availability and affordability of green products, services and information on lifestyle.
Several websites are leading the charge in the greening of our world.
1. On a new website, www.greentomato.org/. you will find set up or coming up a number of features:
- 1001 ideas — readers are asked to contribute their green secrets. Maybe you have built a solar dish out of tinfoil.
- Green Tomato Kit–a collection of items and ideas to get you started living your green lifestyle
- A green community will be starting soon where you can connect with other like-minded souls
2. Want to jump into the thick of the green movement, visit Grist, a nonprofit website that offers environmental news and commentary and describes itself this way
We exist to tell the untold stories, spotlight trends before they become trendy, and engage the apathetic. We’re fiercely independent in our coverage; we throw brickbats when they’re needed and bestow kudos when they’re warranted. And while we take our work seriously, we don’t take ourselves seriously, because of the many things this planet is running out of, sanctimonious tree-huggers ain’t one of them.
At Grist you can discover the top green actors, how green your candidate is, tips on how to green your love life and much more.
According to a New York Times article, “Buying into the Green Movement”
Some 35 million Americans regularly buy products that claim to be earth-friendly, according to one report, everything from organic beeswax lipstick from the west Zambian rain forest to Toyota Priuses. With baby steps, more and more shoppers browse among the
